American Airlines flight aborts takeoff after tire issue on runway
An American Airlines flight was canceled Wednesday morning after it experienced a tire issue trying to take off in Tampa, Florida, the airline said.
Flight 590, which was set to head to Phoenix, “experienced a mechanical issue on the runway prior to taking off,” American Airlines said in a statement. Tampa International Airport said the incident occurred just before 8 a.m.
The statement added the issue was with some of the plane’s tires.
Denver’s previous longest flight was a direct hop on United Airlines to Tokyo’s Narita International Airport. That route is about 400 miles shorter than the new Denver to Istanbul route.
According to DEN analysis, the new Turkish Airlines service to Istanbul is estimated to produce more than $54 million in annual economic impact to Colorado’s economy and support the creation of approximately 350 new jobs across the state, generating more than $21 million in additional wages. With these new flights, DEN will offer nonstop access to 31 destinations in 17 countries, including eight destinations across seven European countries.
“We are extremely pleased to welcome Turkish Airlines as DEN’s newest airline partner,” said DEN CEO Phil Washington. “Our Vision 100 strategic plan goal of expanding our global connections continues to reap rewards not only for our passengers but for everyone who works to support the extraordinary growth at DEN.”
