Steelers predicted to sign former $80 million Bears receiver

The Pittsburgh Steelers still have a few positions of need ahead of training camp, including wide receiver.

Outside of DK Metcalf, Pittsburgh lacks starting-caliber talent in the position group, which is why Bleachers Report Moe Moton predicts the Steelers will sign veteran receiver Keenan Allen in free agency.

“The Steelers should make another move for a wide receiver to help Rodgers. Keenan Allen could fit within their receiver rotation,” Moton wrote.

Allen, who spent the 2024 campaign with the Chicago Bears, doesn’t have the same burst that he used to. However, the 32-year-old is still a productive player who would be a solid replacement for George Pickens, who Pittsburgh traded away to the Dallas Cowboys in May.

A receiver duo of Metcalf and Allen, along with Calvin Austin III, would give the Steelers a dynamic and versatile wide receiver trio for quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Despite playing in a subpar Chicago offense in 2024, Allen was still able to tally 70 receptions for 744 yards and seven touchdowns. The six-time Pro Bowler has posted six 1,000-yard campaigns in his 12-year career thus far, and has also had five seasons with over 100 catches.

Signing Allen to a team-friendly contract before the season to serve as the No.2 receiver would be a savvy move from general manager Omar Khan, who has been pretty aggressive on the player acquisition front this offseason.
