Aryna Sabalenka’s triumph at the Australian Open continues to be celebrated, not only by her team but also by her hitting partner, Andrei Vasilevski, and his family. Recently, Sabalenka took to social media to share a delightful moment captured with Vasilevski’s daughter playfully posing with the prestigious Daphne Akhurst Memorial Cup.

The Belarusian secured her second Australian Open title by defeating 21-year-old Chinese player Zheng Qinwen in a commanding final with a score of 6-3, 6-2. In a heartwarming gesture, Sabalenka shared a picture on Tuesday (February 6) featuring Vasilevski’s daughter standing next to the coveted trophy, comically grasping one handle with both hands.

Sabalenka expressed her fondness for the moment with a simple yet heartfelt caption on her Instagram story: “My love 💓.”

Vasilevski, who turned professional in 2009, is currently on a hiatus from the sport. His last professional match was in the final of the 2022 Pau Challenger men’s doubles, where he partnered with Romain Arneodo, although they were defeated by Elliot Benchetrit and Eliakim Coulibaly. Despite his absence from the court, Vasilevski’s support for Sabalenka’s success remains evident.

Aryna Sabalenka’s victory at the 2024 Australian Open marks her second Grand Slam triumph, making her the first woman since Victoria Azarenka (2012-13) to achieve back-to-back titles in Melbourne. Reflecting on her journey, Sabalenka’s path to victory in both the 2023 and 2024 editions showcased her formidable skill and determination.

In the 2023 tournament, Sabalenka navigated through challenging opponents, including Elina Rybakina in the final, to claim her maiden Grand Slam title. Fast forward to 2024, Sabalenka’s title defense was equally impressive, as she swept through the competition without dropping a single set, ultimately defeating Zheng Qinwen in the final to retain her championship status.

Aryna Sabalenka’s remarkable achievement at the Australian Open not only solidifies her position as a formidable force in women’s tennis but also highlights the camaraderie and support within her team, including the memorable bond shared with Vasilevski’s daughter
